10 Sahabah Promised Paradise (Al-Asharah Al-Mubasharun)

The term Al-Asharah Al-Mubasharun bil-Jannah refers to the ten noble companions of Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ who were given the glad tidings of Paradise during their lifetimes. These Sahabah were exceptional in faith, character, service to Islam, and sacrifice for the cause of Allah. Their status was affirmed by the Prophet ๏ทบ himself in authentic narrations.

The Hadith Reference

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf:
"The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) said:
'Abu Bakr is in Paradise, 'Umar is in Paradise, 'Uthman is in Paradise, 'Ali is in Paradise, Talhah is in Paradise, Az-Zubair is in Paradise, 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf is in Paradise, Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas is in Paradise, Sa'id bin Zayd is in Paradise, and Abu 'Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah is in Paradise.'"

1. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Abu Bakr was the closest friend of the Prophet ๏ทบ and the first man to accept Islam. His unwavering support and generosity were unmatched. He accompanied the Prophet ๏ทบ during the Hijrah and was appointed the first caliph after the Prophet's death.

2. Umar ibn Al-Khattab (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Umar accepted Islam through a powerful story and became one of the strongest supporters of Islam. As the second caliph, he established justice and expanded the Islamic state. His leadership and piety earned him immense respect.

3. Uthman ibn Affan (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Known for his modesty and generosity, Uthman financed many Islamic campaigns and compiled the Qur'an into a unified text. He served as the third caliph and was martyred while reading the Qur’an.

4. Ali ibn Abi Talib (Radhiallahu Anhu)

The cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet ๏ทบ, Ali was known for his wisdom, bravery, and deep knowledge. He played a crucial role in many battles and served as the fourth caliph of Islam.

5. Talhah ibn Ubaydullah (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Talhah was among the early converts and known for his courage. At the Battle of Uhud, he shielded the Prophet ๏ทบ with his own body, sustaining over 70 wounds. He was called “The Living Martyr” by the Prophet ๏ทบ.

6. Az-Zubair ibn Al-Awwam (Radhiallahu Anhu)

A cousin of the Prophet ๏ทบ and one of the first to accept Islam, Az-Zubair participated in all major battles and was known for his valor. He was also one of the six members of the Shura Council appointed to choose the next caliph.

7. Abdur-Rahman ibn Awf (Radhiallahu Anhu)

One of the wealthiest Sahabah, Abdur-Rahman supported Islam through his business and generosity. He gave away huge amounts in charity and never let wealth corrupt his soul. He was also part of the Shura Council.

8. Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Sa’d was one of the first to accept Islam and was a fierce archer. He led the Muslims to victory in the Battle of Qadisiyyah and was known for his piety and prayers being answered. The Prophet ๏ทบ once said, "O Allah, answer his supplication."

9. Sa’id ibn Zayd (Radhiallahu Anhu)

A descendant of a monotheist family, Sa’id was known for his humility and devotion. He fought in many battles and remained close to the Prophet ๏ทบ. He refused worldly positions and lived a simple life dedicated to Islam.

10. Abu Ubaidah ibn Al-Jarrah (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Known as “The Trustworthy of this Ummah” by the Prophet ๏ทบ, Abu Ubaidah was a general and a man of deep humility and faith. He led many successful military expeditions and was offered caliphate after Umar’s death but refused.

The ten Sahabah who were promised Paradise are role models for all Muslims. Their unwavering commitment, sacrifice, sincerity, and love for Islam earned them this extraordinary honor. Learning about them not only strengthens our appreciation for Islamic history but also inspires us to live righteous lives in pursuit of Allah's pleasure and mercy.
